| So my brother and I are think about getting a car in the summer, with a budget of 5,000 CDN max. I found this awesome S13 240SX Hatch on Kijiji (Canadian Ebay). Heres a link to the car: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]The stats are not bad. Engine swap, with 79,000km, no rust that i can see on the photo's, decent color, leather seats, looks pretty stock which I like. I hate riced out 240's with fart cans. I can't make out what engine it is. Im thinking its some sort of KA24DE. Some one please correct me if im wrong. The only problem is the 330,000km the body has done. Most used that I find in my budget is in the 100-200 hundred thousand km range which includes the engine. So I do not kno if this car will last long. It has 330,000 km done on the chassis, idk if it will live going over a speed bump. Please help me decide if this is a good car. Thanks so much. | |

| I've never seen a car fall apart while going over a speed bump at 5km/hr...
My car has 270k on the engine and chassis and it runs like a champ.

| The Minty Fresh and Fitted Life stickers hold everything together.
The Turbozilla sticker scares away rust and keeps my car sexy. And not broken.

| Really? Do you have a stripe on the car? I thought I saw some fireballs near your vents too. | |

| Yeah, I think the fact that I came up with a really original name for my car helps too.
It gives the car personality and makes it want to live.
I named her Bolt.
So original. | |

| if that car was in the US i would say slightly over priced but still very clean. That is a KA24de btw. 200,000 miles isn't super bad the motor will run for ever. I boosted my single cam for over 2 years when it had 180K miles. | |

| If your overlly worried about how many road miles the cars got why not join a silvia club online and ask about your concerns there as you'd more likely getting a wider range of answers from people that either love or own silvia's.
Only issues i could think would you may be up for new bushes/rubbers in your suspension, possible new shocks though it doesnt look like its sagging or sitting overly low for a pretty much standard looking ride so they may be fine.
Other things to consider would be the clutch/gearbox/driftshaft/diff, but then again these things aint overly expensive to replace. And with a decent workshop book you can do alot of it yourself which inturn will gain you more knowlegde in cars.
Also keep in mind, if your gonna end up drifting it. These things + more are gonna either need replacing or upgrading anyways so its as much of a muchness. Basically everythig in a car is classed as a consumable meaning its gonna end up needing replacing at some stage anyways.
So the real question is? Buying a second hand car that you have no knowledge of how its been treated and whats been done/replaced over its life. Your always running a risk of getting a lemon or two. Hell the car could end up being good & giving you no troubles whatso ever. Then again, you could be forever chasing your ass fixing issues.
Get either a friend or a mechanic to check it over fully helps, and you can also negotiate on the price and see if they'll drop any if you find things that could be an issue

Not really, the ammount of cars i've owned and they've all been second hand. I've been ripped a few times lol. But thats what i was really getting at, when buying secondhand you just factor that into the price

| technically a coupe is still a coupe regardless of weather it has a boot(trunk) or hatch. They just call them a coupe and a hatchback. So really, it doesnt matter either way (=
