| Good call on the *one per junkyard* thing. I do think that we should run auctions, though. Maybe with autobuy? Mainly so the people that are not online when I update get a chance as well. That also promotes activity.
I'll take a look on what other people say.
We don't want to upset the economy with a heapload of junkyard cars for low prices, thus the fairly scarce five cars and three engines.

| if the numbers stay low then youre right it will need to be a 1-2 day auction (around payday as thats when everyone tries to get on the forum anyway) but working out a price limit for the rarer items may be difficult as lets say a group with money out bid everyone on a shelby gt500 with custom fibreglass front clip (lets see whos on the ball and knows what car that is) when it comes up, because people havent saved 50+k or whatever. then they chuck in an engine and leave it in their shop for 90k until someone saves for it as obviously there's only one, and in game its 200+k etc etc...
so a work around to stop people using the scrappy as a way of making money off other bnb members for no other reason then they have more money to start with

| how about if more then one person wants an item the price rises 5% per extra person interested, but people can retract their interest if the price rises too high for them then after the 2 days a winner is selected at random with an added multiplier for those in later weeks that havent bought anything from the scrap yard before so 6 guys want a galows 24 engine the price starts at 3.5k and it rises to 4,375 as it rises by 25% due to interest guy 1 says "F that! its not worth 4,375" so it goes down to 4,200 as the interest in the part has gone down.... the listing closes after the 2 days and one of the 5 guys wins the part at random every time you win a part your number of chances in the next item you want goes back to 1, every time you lose an item you want your chances go up by 1 until you win one? make any sense at all? hahaha | |

| not really, its easy math and the chances are easy to count as it would be in the same sub forum as previous junkyard parts | |

Agreed, people might also get angry when they lose out too often.

| hence the added chances, there are only 5 cars a week so people are going to lose out, that is a fact or the value of cars and parts will become meaningless as the forum gets flooded with cheap items if the number is increased
if you 'bid' on a car with other people and lose you have 2 chances next time and then you lose again, 3 chances, then 4 etc.. thats the best way i can see of keeping the distribution fair.

| I like where you are going Mosuke but whats to stop someone from driving the price up out of spite ( I.e bidding just to make the next guy pay more)? | |

| the most someone can bump the price would be 5% and then there's the chance they could win it. also limiting how many things they can 'bid' or show interest in each week to 1 or 2 should keep people bidding only on what they are interested in
if you can make 2 bids and win the first, your second bid would be removed but not the 5% it raised the price

isn't that kinda how real life bidding goes? but we have seen spite bidding in the last few months in the car threads lol bidding should simply be a statement that you are willing to pay X amount for something not "he's a dick and i dont want him buying it for W so i'll bid X in the hope he pays Z"

| because you have more money in SD then most do in their garages? its down to TRK so i guess he would try a simple auction first and see how that goes, hopefully he will add a rare car or part regardless of the random outcome to see how that auction differs from more common items | |
