Am I the only person on Forza who just doesn't car for a AE86 or S13? They aren't "Favorite" car worthy, to me IMO. Like, I can see why you like them, but not worship like some of ya'll do.

Not me personally, but it's their opinion.
I agree though, I would love to own one some day but I wouldn't list it as my favourite car.
A few cars come before them.

Who says we worship S Chassis? I dont, I just think theyre one of my favorite cars.

To each their own I guess, I think they're one of the most iconic cars around.
The Hachi did a lot for racing and drifting and to me it's still one of the most beautiful cars around.
Timeless. Another great feat about the Eight-Six is that a lot of people personalize them, I think that's a beautiful thought.
It adds up to the general feel of the car and people tend to fall in love with it.

Think of it this way. An S13 or AE86 to us is an Alfa 8C or an Aventador to you. No one here drifts super cars to keep up with missiles. Not meant as an attack, I just don't like how you're generalizing.

No, it's not like the Aventador or the 8C. Those were cars that I drifted in the game. This is favorite cars of all time. The Aventador is amazingly sexy, but it's not my favorite car of all time. It'd be (like I said as the second post in this thread) me drifting a NSX or a F40.

But what I am on about, is I just don't understand why everyone DROOLS over a silva or a hatchi. It's just plain weird to me. Yes, I can understand why you like the cars, they are fantastic, but to only talk about the S13, drift S13, look up S13.... it's an obsession I'll never understand. Yeah, I may love the F out of my EM1, doesn't mean it's one of the best cars of all time (which it was), but to love the car, as if to worship it and place it on a pedistool, that just isn't me and idk how such a car can be so.... idolized.

or maybe I'm the weird one.

I dont know how to explain it......I have had tons of cars (over 30) and one of my faves from memory was my 84 Corolla GTS. The first time i saw one i fell in love. Dont ask me why, i just did. I have had big horsepower cars like my old Mustang 5.0 and more advanced cars but my memories will always start with the hachi!! Is it the best car of all time? Not by a long shot but its all about emotion when it comes to that car (or any cars that people drool over)

No one says we only talk about the PS13/AE86.
As you said, you'd be happy with an iconic car like the NSX or the F40. I can see why, they're both very special and beautiful.
And rare, at that. For me and probably a lot of others I'd rather start out with a more basic base and make it mine.
With all that personal work the cars gets more special and special, more like me. Of course you can do that with an NSX or F40 too, but it's different.
A normal NSX turns heads and a customised NSX is just not as special as a fully customised AE86.

I don't need a flashy ride, I want a ride that's like me.
Less is more has always been a statement of mine and if I could customise a car I would go by that rule.
Nothing looks better than a completely stripped and cleaned Hachi or a classic 911S in my eyes.

It's all preference.
Cars tell a story, to me the Hachi tells my story.

What you're doing is asking why we like a particular car, we could ask if why you like the NSX or F40 in particular.
Why not the RX7 or R34? The Diablo SV or the 33 Stradale.

I don't know what the hell you're talking about, but no one here DROOLS or WORSHIPS over S13's or Hachi's. We just love them because of the history they have and the impact they've made in the world of drifting.

It's kinda like saying that we are weird because we like to build our own cars and make them ours in a way, while you go to a shop and have them do it for you.

I love the R34, you love the F40. Like TRK said, it all comes down to preference. You shouldn't call someone weird because of the car they like, the food they eat, where they're from, what shoes they wear, who they hang out with, or whatever. It's just not cool to judge and generalize like that.

That's all I'm saying.

Loving the S13 is easy to understand. It's a dime-a-dozen drift car that pretty much everyone who is interested in drifting starts out on. No project car is "cheap", but relative to other cars you could start with, the S13 is fairly cheap to maintain in comparison and still makes a good daily. There are so many of them and they are so easy to faff about with that they're the go-to car for newbies and pros alike.

That commands respect, in my opinion.

But what do I know? I've never owned one. My hands-down favorite car of all time, though, is the S30Z. It's a popular choice for classic Japanese cars, I know, but it's clear to see why. If you look at the engaging history of how the car came to be, you'll see it's essentially the punk-rock anti-hero of the American import auto industry.

Guy wanted to make a sports car to appeal to the American market because tiny Japanese cars weren't catching on over here. Pitched the idea to his superiors. They said GFY and crushed his dream. So he went over their heads and pitched it to the owners of Nissan Japan. They told his bosses to give him a chance. So they made him president of Datsun (Nissan America, the Scion of it's time) and pretty much expected him to fail. He then basically assembled the automotive equivalent of The Avengers and the result was the Z.

The car then went on to solidify Nissan's place in the American auto market and make Katayama's bosses look like nay-saying dickbags.
