The guys that done the shift series (Slightly Mad Studios) parted ways with EA and the NFS series because they where forced to dumb down their game to make it appeal to a wider audience, they're now working on Project C.A.R.S. So far the physics look a lot closer to Forza than Shift, so if the content from Shift is there we could be looking at a solid game.
The content for drifters in Shift 2 made Forza look pathetic, the track list was awesome too, just a shame about the physics really, but that's NFS for you.
It's definitely worth checking out some pcars stuff on youtube, there's lots of it out there. I think the guys from Inside sim done a feature on it too.
I'll check it out, thanks ;] This world lacks a great simulation drifter.

Do you have Shift 2? Is it worth getting for single player playing? I do enjoy a good not-so-sim racer if its done well.
All I have played was the Shift 1 demo, and I immediately said f this. I guess I should look to see if there is a Shift 2 Demo to tryout.
The thing that most pissed me off about other NFS games was completely different physics depending on what type of racing you were doing. Stupid. I think the car customization on a lot of their later games has been pretty cool though. Last one I bought used was Nfs Pro Street. I spent more time customizing cars than I did racing.
Dammit just talking about it again makes me want to put the disc in my xbox.

The game is nice for customising, the sound is pretty cool too. Physics leave stuff to wish for but hey, it's better than any other Need for Speed (don't know if that says a lot, LOL).
Anyway, it's cheap and 10-20 euros is worth it.
I loved drifting in Pro Street. I think that's the best NFS in my eyes.

I just couldn't watch the video Callum posted. The driver was way too bad. It seriously hurt myself how slow he took those corners.

I guess for some its only a matter of hours till they get Horizon.
One thing that crossed my mind and got me really worried was this...Race Transmissions. With no tuning, I realllly hope that anytime you install the race transmission you aren't stuck with the same default gearing that you get in FM4, for every car. That would not be good!
I was tuning a race trans to plan out one of my builds for Horizon, got it cruising at 100mph, 2k rpm in 6th gear, V8 just burbling along and sounding sick, that's when it crossed my mind that I wouldn't be able to do that in Horizon.

Hmm, also the first gears are so fucking long with the race transmissions..

Yeah I thought about making a high top speed highway racing car but without being able to tune transmissions I don't know what your suppose to do. Maybe certain cars will just be better at it than others. For example maybe a viper will always have a higher top end than a corvette or something like that and we will have to deal with it.

57 chevy, 2 speed factory. only way to really upgrade that is race trans, and the default gearing sucks.
I was tuning a 64 impala that I wanted to cruize at 100mph and 2k rpm in 6th, with 1st-4th geared exactly like the stock 4 speed trans.
Untuned, its like 4-5k rpm at 100mph in 6th. Not acceptable! BTW that car sounds sick with the stock motor, stock exhaust, and stock intake.

Hmm, Toyota Supra and R34 both get 370 KM/H or something.
