| New Rule: All shops must post their finished work in the Checkout Lane to get a price quote on their work. Once this quote is given to them on the materials, only then are they given permission to sell the paint. The shop pays BNB for the materials and your customers pay you for the paint, whatever you earn is your profit. This new rule starts immediately, any paints sold from this point forth without having been posted in the Checkout Lane is an illegal and void transaction. Checkout Lane Link: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Thank you, Smooth

| So no more self-pricing? I think each shop should have different pricing. | |

| i'm guessing its for the consumables, ie paint, vinyl, bodyparts (if widebody) vents (if vented lol) etc... meaning the base proice for a wide body with cool shiznt on it would be around 3.5k to bnb plus the shops labour costs thats where the prices would differ and it keeps the cost of parts simple
.. at least thats what i'm guessing lol

| So, I'm not allowed to make a paint, and choose the price I charge for the paint? I have to now let BnB decide? | |

| Each shop can have different pricing. Let's say I'm your customer and wanted a full livery on my car. Your shop pays $3,000 for the livery but you charge me $5,000 for your product. Your shop makes $2,000 profit instead of a free $5,000. This makes shops price their products better and doesn't allow them to have lower prices than others just so they get more customers. | |

| Ok, but undercutting a competitor is the cornerstone of business, lol. I see this as hurting the marketplace, crippling it even. Prices will be higher for the end customer, and will likely result in far less overall sales, hurting all the shops simultaneously. I guess we'll see in time.
Also, this is for paints only right? I don't have to post up if I've done a tune, correct?

| Tiger? thats not really a rule change, only the part about posting it in the checkout is new a full livery has always cost 3k before any profit. I know the rules have been easy to misinterpret at times but that ones been understood by the older shops since before i joined | |

| Yeah, our shop is new, and this is news to me. So, to be clear, you're saying to me that if my shop paints a car for someone, that it has to pay BnB, who have done none of the work of painting said vehicle, $3000 before we make a dime??? So, I'm paying them what would result in being 50% or more of what I would be charging the end customer? Wow, not gonna like, that sounds like, for lack of a better word, bullshit. I'm going to be thinking on whether I'll continue painting at all. Thanks for the heads up though, Mos.

| Sorry you feel that way bud, to keep things more realistic maybe shops should have a discount, so its like 2k instead of 3? But it costs body shops money when they paint cars IRL As a fan of your work i hope you keep knocking them out the park fella!
as for paints costing big bank, its the main way people make cars their own on bnb so i'm sure it costing bank wont stop us making them ours
My sx cost me 8k for TRK to do a custom widebody at 3k + 5k labour and it was worth every penny

| This is how i though it was supposed to work in the begining...
$2000 for simple color change
$3000 for full livery
Now with that $3000 i understand i can paint it any which way i want with a million decals if i so please. Is this correct?
Now even tho i feel funny in doing so, I have to DISagree with ya Tiger (u see what i did there? lol). If a full custom livery made personally by the vehicle owner is $3000, why shouldnt you charge accordingly? Ive seen your work and to give it away for a few bits above 3 racks (or whatever you are currently charging) is almost robbery!!!! What im saying is unless your a magical socerer that conjures up paints, you put some effort and time into it and i think it should be rewared. Besides...dudes around here aint broke........i think you should charge more..id pay it myself..

and yes from what i know, you can sticker bomb the car and fit rockets for 3k, but looking at the new rule i think it would not include 'fenders' and painted body parts anymore, the same as you'd have to pay for a change in physical bumpers and skirts

| I hear you that in real life a shop must buy paint supplies, but I worked at a body shop for a few years, and never ever were the supplies priced that ridiculously. Even when using House Of Kolors candy colors, pearls, and even their crazy expensive Kameleon paint. If you add the cost of filler, sandpaper, primer, tape, plastic, even the electricity to run the bake lamps after its painted, it wouldn't be $3000. Unless labor was included, and then it goes back to the fact that BnB isn't doing any of the labor. Just my opinion.

| LOL @ Kru, no, I am no magical sorcerer, and yes, I do put time in. I was just unaware that our shop had to pay BnB when we did a paint for a customer. Now that I know, If I decide to continue painting BnB cars I will be forced to charge accordingly.

| All these rules are slowly ruining BNB for me and for a lot of the members on here. BNB has to decide what the PAINTER's livery should cost? BNB doesn't make anyone paints, it's the people within BNB who make them. If anyone in here knows anything about business, this rule should not have been implemented at all. Lower prices will always be a key point in making the most sales. That's why Walmart is better than Albertson's.

| Here is my problem with this, let's say you have someone wanting a paint well, there is no way to quote them a price until work is done and after we post finished paint in check out lane what if then the customers says it cost to much. Now the time the shop or painter has put into it is for nothing. Also who will be in the check out lane with the prices? Will it take days to get a price back? (like paydays taking days to post?)
I'm not trying to be rude but, it sounds like there is no incentive to opening a paint shop.

| Yes, that too. All that. We need more activity and it could take days to get a quote. I honestly disagree with this rule and am about to make a suggestion. What if when we want to come up with a rule, we post a poll in the chat lounge and get feedback and suggestions on it? Instead of just making rules up willy-nilly. If it doesn't get majority, it's not a rule and vice versa. | |

| ^^ Exactly. This new rule has made us at Tempted Tuning decide to be tunes only. We've shut down the paint side of the business. Way too much of a hassle. Which begs the question, what prompted this rule change?

| Uh guys, the people that buy the paints do not pay more.. If I would decide to buy a paint from let's say Tempted, I'd have to pay for the actual paint wrap ($3,000) AND the cost of the work that said shop put into making that paint.
Nothing really has changed except that Smooth wants you to run it through price check.
I think the running through price check is over-kill since we can all trust the members here (for the larger part, scoundrels!). However, this is Smooth's site so in any case he can do whatever the fudge he wants.

| Here is the major part I have an issue with. Who is whoever will be in that thread to tell me/my shop what a paint costs or is worth. They were there when it got painted? They know how hard or easy it was to do? Why are these rules popping up? What is the impetus?
Either way TRK, you're right, it is Smooth's site. But, if these rules alienate enough people, who'll be around to use his site?
